Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Obed Salas, an individual doing business as "LetSale" ("LetSale," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, discloses, and protects information when you use the LetSale iOS application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By using LetSale, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on how you use LetSale and the features you access.

A. Account Information

LetSale accounts are created and authenticated using a valid email address and password, handled by Google Firebase Authentication. When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Password (handled and stored by Firebase Authentication — LetSale does not store your password directly)
  • Display name
  • Username
  • A color avatar you select (LetSale does not support uploaded profile photos)
  • User ID / account identifier
  • Account creation date and account status

B. Sale and Listing Information

When you create a sale or listing, we collect the information you enter, including:

  • Sale title and description
  • Sale date, start time, and end time
  • Sale address, entered by you
  • Item descriptions and categories
  • Any other information you voluntarily include in a listing

Sale listing information is indexed using Algolia to power in-app search, and is displayed to other LetSale users as part of the core functionality of the Service — see Section 3 below for exactly what's public.

C. Location Information

LetSale processes location information in two ways:

  • Sale address: When you create a sale, the address you enter is used to generate an approximate map location (using Google and Apple mapping services) shown to other users, and is used to determine which sales are relevant to nearby users.
  • Device location (GPS):LetSale may request permission to access your device's precise location in order to set your sale's address automatically and to show you nearby sales. Entering an address manually instead of using device location is always available as an option. Device location is only accessed if you grant the relevant device permission, and you can deny or revoke it at any time through your device settings.

Precise device location is treated as a sensitive category of information, and we only use it for the purposes described above.

D. Sale Interactions ("Boosts" and "Joins")

LetSale lets users take actions on other users' sale listings:

  • Boost: a free action that increases a listing's visibility. We record which user performed a boost and on which listing.
  • Join: an action indicating interest in or attendance at another user's sale. We record which user performed a join and on which listing.

We collect and store these interaction records to operate the feature (e.g., showing a listing's boost/join count) and to send related notifications (see Section 1.G below). LetSale does not include in-app chat or messaging between users.

E. Device and Technical Information

When you access LetSale, we may automatically receive limited technical information necessary to operate and secure the Service, such as IP address, device type, operating system, app version, and general request/usage logs generated through our authentication and database provider (Google Firebase). LetSale does not use any dedicated analytics or crash-reporting service (such as Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Sentry, or similar tools), and the LetSale website does not use cookies or tracking technologies. If any of this changes, we will update this Privacy Policy to name the specific tools used.

F. Visitors Browsing the Website Without an Account

You can view and search sale listings on the LetSale website without creating an account ("Visitors"). As a Visitor, we do not collect any account information from you, and we do not use cookies or tracking technologies to monitor your browsing activity. We may still receive the basic technical information described in Section 1.E above as an inherent part of operating the website, but this is not linked to an account or used to build a profile of you. If you create an account, the information described elsewhere in this policy will then apply to you.

G. Notifications

If push notifications are enabled, LetSale uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (for the web app) and Apple Push Notification Service (for iOS) to deliver notifications to your device, based on a push-notification token associated with your device. Notifications are sent for events including:

  • Someone boosts your sale
  • Someone joins your sale
  • Someone follows you
  • Account, security, and report-related activity

You can control notification permissions through your device settings and, where available, in-app settings.

H. Support Communications

If you contact us for support — through the in-app support form or by emailing letsale-team@outlook.com — we collect the information you provide, such as your name, email address, account information, and a description of your issue, in order to respond to and resolve your request.

I. Reports and Safety Information

If you submit a report about another account, sale, or piece of content, we collect and store the report, including the reporting user's ID, the reported user or sale ID, the reason for the report, any description provided, and the date/time submitted. We retain this information as necessary to investigate reports, enforce our Terms, and maintain platform safety.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information described above to:

Provide the Service— create and maintain accounts, authenticate users, display and enable creation of sales, power search (via Algolia), support boosts/joins/follows, provide location-based discovery, and deliver notifications.

Security and Safety— detect and prevent fraud or unauthorized access, investigate reports, protect users, and enforce our Terms of Use.

Development and Improvement— debug technical problems, maintain reliability, and develop new features.

Legal Compliance— comply with applicable law, respond to valid legal requests, and protect our legal rights, users, and the public.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information.

A. To Other Users. When you create a sale, the following is visible to other LetSale users as part of the listing: sale title, description, date/time, address, an approximate map pin, item categories, boost/join counts, and your display name, username, and color avatar. We do not display your email address or password to other users.

B. Service Providers. We share information with:

  • Google Firebase — account authentication, database, and Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications for the web app).
  • Apple — Apple Push Notification Service (push notifications for iOS) and Apple mapping services (for map pins).
  • Google — mapping services (for map pins).
  • Algolia — search indexing of sale listing content.

These providers process information on our behalf, subject to their applicable service agreements and security practices. We do not currently use any other third-party analytics, storage, or infrastructure providers. If that changes, we will update this Privacy Policy to reflect the actual providers in use.

C. Legal Requirements.We may disclose information when we reasonably believe it's necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful government or legal requests, investigate fraud or security incidents, or protect the rights, property, or safety of LetSale, our users, or others.

D. Business Transfers. If LetSale is involved in a sale, merger, reorganization, or similar transaction, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, with notice provided where required by law.

4. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain your account, provide support, maintain security, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.

Account Deletion:When you delete your account, it is immediately deactivated — your listings and profile are no longer visible or accessible to other users, and your account cannot be recovered or restored. Your email address is deleted at that time. We retain the remaining underlying data for internal analysis; after 90 days, this retained data is anonymized so that it is no longer tied to your identity. Reports submitted about your account by other users may be retained after account deletion where reasonably necessary for safety and legal compliance.

5. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction, including:

  • Authentication and password handling by Google Firebase Authentication (LetSale does not directly store passwords).
  • Data encrypted in transit.
  • Access to our backend and database restricted to what is necessary to operate the Service.

No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Children's Privacy

LetSale is intended only for individuals 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18. If we learn that someone under 18 has provided personal information through the Service, we will take reasonable steps to delete the information and terminate the associated account.

7. Your Privacy Choices and Rights

You may have rights regarding your personal information, which may include the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your personal information.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (such as device location access).

To submit a privacy request, contact us at letsale-team@outlook.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.

8. U.S. Privacy Rights

LetSale is currently available only in the United States. Depending on your state of residence, you may have additional rights under applicable state privacy law, which may include the right to know what personal information we collect, access it, request its deletion or correction, and not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights. LetSale does not sell personal information for monetary consideration and does not share personal information in a way that constitutes "sharing" or a "sale" under applicable state privacy laws. If that changes, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any required opt-out mechanism.

9. International Users

LetSale is operated from, and currently offered only within, the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will still be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.

10. Cookies

The LetSale website does not use cookies or similar tracking technologies.

11. Third-Party Links

LetSale may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, security, or content of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing them with information.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, provide notice through the Service, by email, or another reasonable method. Your continued use of LetSale after an updated Privacy Policy takes effect constitutes acknowledgment of the update, to the extent permitted by law.
